General Guidelines for Parents & Nursery Volunteers

1. For the safety of all the children kept in our nursery, children must be picked up by a parent/legal guardian or other adult.  Children will not be released to minor siblings, friends, neighbors, etc.  When children are dropped off, parents will be given a card with an identification number, the child's name, and the parent's signature.  The child will only be released to the individual who signed the card, and the card must be returned when the child is picked up.

2. Diapers, diaper wipes, bottles, formula, and cups must be provided by the parent.  Please label your child's diaper bag, bottles, pacifiers and other belongings with your child's name. We also recommend that you supply a change of clothes (for infants) and if your child is potty training, please notify a staff member and provide a change of underwear and clothes.

3. The nursery ministry will provide boxed juices and snacks, so please let us know if your child has any allergies.

4. Children must wear shoes at all times while in the nursery.  Exceptions will only be made for medical reasons and for children who can not walk.

5. Please pick up your child promptly after the service, (nursery staff enjoy visiting too!)

Health Care Policies

Children (and staff) with the following symptoms should not be in the nursery:

Within the last 24 hours....

  • Fever of 100 degrees or above (oral temperature.) This is the equivalent of 101 degrees rectally or 99 degrees axillary.
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea (6 liquid stools)
  • Yellow or green nasal discharge
  • Less than 24 hours on an antibiotic after an infection diagnosis.
  • Pinkeye or drainage from the eye.
  • Rashes not related to diapering, heat or allergic reaction to medicine (unless a note from physician is provided)
  • Children recovering from Chicken Pox may return to the nursery provided all open areas are scabbed over.

No prescription or nonprescription medications are given by the nursery staff except for diaper rash ointment. This is applied only if you approved it, along with specific instructions for its use.
